Spiders T_T

I can't sleep. I'm too scared. A few days ago, I saw a spider in my room, but it was too high so I couldn't reach it, and I thought, I'll just let it live. But just now, I wanted to read a book on my bed, and when I lay down and grabbed my book, it almost crawled on my hands. So I kind of threw the book on my bed, but the spider is gone now, and I can't find it anywhere. So it must be SOMEWHERE on my bed T_T

I haven't posted anything the last days. My life has been a bit meh. I'll make a post about my nails tomorrow, I have changed them a lot recently, and I've got acrylic nails now (done them myself! I'm so proud :3)

I'm so tired... I really want to sleep. I think I'll just try, wish me luck :S

Nails Of The Day: French manicure

Hello :)

I'm feeling better today n_n And I did my nails, because I got tired of my caviar nails. This is how they look:
I had only 10 rhinestones left, otherwise I would have used more. I still like how my nails look though.

Have a nice day <3

30 day challenge - day 8

So I'm going to do a challenge for the next 30 days. I thought it would be a nice way to write something everyday and let you know more about me. The challenge for today is: a moment.
This is a long time ago :| I really thought I was going to succeed in this challenge, but no. Well, I'll just pick it up from where I left I guess n_n

I haven't really had noteworthy moments the past months, so I'm going to talk about a moment in (I think it was) October 2011.

At that time, I was in college for around 2 months. I don't remember what day it was. I was sitting on the bus on my way home. It was really quiet, which I liked, because I hate it when buses are full and busy. I looked out the window, and the sun shined on my face. I was doing good at university, I made friends, loved the classes and had no problems whatsoever. And suddenly, I felt really happy. I know that it sounds weird. I had been happy before (most of the time, not always of course), but I suddenly realized that I truly was happy. I had goose bumps all over my arms. I felt like crying, but I didn't, because I wasn't completely alone :') And when I got home... I had to do my homework, help with cooking and clean my room, and the feeling was completely gone :')

Have you ever had moments like this one?

Have a nice evening <3

Shopping prohibition

Hi :)

I wanted to let you know that from now on, I'm on a shopping prohibition. It's going to be really hard for me, but I want to try.
There's a few reasons I want to do this. Firstly, it is because I want to save money. The last year or so, I have spent more money on clothes and make-up than I wanted to. Whenever I see something cool, I get that feeling of 'I have to buy it now, otherwise it will be gone, and I won't find something similar ever again'. I know it is bullshit, but that's just how I feel when I'm shopping >_<

I also want to do this because I think it will make me conscious of all the clothes I already have, and make me appreciate them more. I hope it will make me more creative as well and make me come up with more outfits with everything I already have.

And lastly, and this is the most important reason, I want to do this as an extra reason to lose weight. You do not know this yet, but I am overweight. I haven't told you because I don't want this blog to become like an 'overweight fashion blog', even though I have respect for those bloggers and I love visiting them. I want this blog to be about other things as well, without the label 'overweight'. I never really wear the clothes that I like. I keep on buying clothes that either fit me, but I don't feel comfortable in so I never wear them, or clothes that I don't even fit in, with the excuse of 'but I'm going to lose weight, so I will be able to wear it then'. Meanwhile, those clothes have been in my closet for at least a year. I hope that this shopping prohibition will make me want to lose weight even more.

I'm a bit nervous (I'm a bit of a shopaholic), but I have found out that whenever I see nice clothes or jewelry, instead of buying it, I can put it in my stylebook, and it really helps me.

Have you ever been on a shopping prohibition? What was it like?

Wish me luck n_n

Want: wedge sneakers

Hi :)

I've got another pair of shoes that I really want (you can read about all the other shoes I want here). You either love them or hate them: wedge sneakers.

It all started with the shoes by Isabel Marant. They've got a hidden wedge in them, so when you're wearing them, you'll be a few centimeters longer. When I first saw them, I fell in love. But I'm not willing to spend €449 on shoes.
The shoes by Isabel Marant

Luckily, a lot of brands have also got wedge sneakers by now, for a lot less money. I've found some nice ones:
1 from eBay (seller itemtrend) $57,99; 2 From march23 but I don't know how much they cost. They're opening a webshop soon; 3 From ASOS $78,28; 4 From march23 via Little Soho €199

Do you like wedge sneakers?

Have a nice day <3

Nails Of The Day: Caviar nails

I'm back! I didn't really feel like writing the last few days, but now I feel guilty :( So I'll try to post more frequently, I promise!
Caviar nails by Ciaté
Caviar beads on my own nails

Today, I received a package from eBay with caviar beads :) Caviar beads are originally by Ciaté, I believe, but I bought 2 really cheap packages for like $3. I think they look awesome, but the first time I tried them on, everything fell off again within 5 minutes >_< So here are some tips:

  • Use a little bowl or something underneath your nails, otherwise you'll have a big mess afterwards
  • Do one nail at a time, to prevent the nail polish from drying
  • Use a matching nail polish, and put on a thick layer in order to let the beads stick better. If the layer is too thin, it will dry quickly and the beads will fall off again very easily
  • After you sprinkled the beads all over, pat them into the nail polish. I used a plastic spoon for this, as it didn't work out with my fingers. The beads kept on sticking to them
  • Don't put a top coat on your complete nail, this will ruin the effect of the beads and make it look funny. I only applied a little strip of top coat to the borders of my nails
What do you think of caviar nails? Are you going to try them?

Here's a picture of EXO-K to make it up for you (and just because... DAMN they're hot XD):

30 day challenge - day 7

So I'm going to do a challenge for the next 30 days. I thought it would be a nice way to write something everyday and let you know more about me. The challenge for today is: Your best friend.
I think I have a best friend. Her name is Nadia, and we met during introduction week of university. When I say 'I think I have a best friend', I mean that I'm not really sure. I don't really talk about stuff like this with friends, and I don't easily say that I love someone.

So I'm just assuming that she is my best friend. By the way, she knows I have a blog, but I haven't shown her yet, so if she ever reads this, then: Hi Nadia ^^ Are we best friends?

Anyway, we get along very well. We are very similar (not our looks, but how we think, and our opinions, and just our personalities). It's a bit scary sometimes, but funny too.

I've never had a friend like that. It's really nice to have someone who completely understands you, and I can talk with her about everything. And I'm always giggly when I'm with her.

Do you have a best friend?

Teeez! Review

When I went into town a couple of days ago, I found a lipstick from a brand I've never tried before. So I thought, let's try it out!

It is a lipstick by the brand Teeez Cosmetics, from the collection 'City Trip', which is inspired by Gossip Girl. It has been around for a while, but I never really thought about buying something. But I love the packaging, and I just couldn't resist...
The lipstick itself is longer than normal ones, and thinner as well. In combination with the slanted end, it is really easy to apply.
I bought the color 'Centre Ville', which is a very summery peachy pink color. It is really pigmented, and stays on very long. It will not survive a meal, but nothing comes off when you have a drink.
I'm not really fond of the texture though. It is dry, so if you have dry lips yourself (you know, with all those pieces of dead skin - what is the English word for that?), it will really show.
This lipstick costs €5.99 and is available at most drugstores in Holland (I believe not at Kruidvat, but I'm not sure). If you want to know where you can buy Teeez outside of Holland, check teeez.eu.

Advantages

  • Nice packaging
  • Easy to apply
  • Pigmented
  • Stays on long
  • Cheap
  • Can be bought at most drugstores in the Netherlands

Disadvantages

  • Texture is dry
I'm really happy with this lipstick, in the future, I will definitely buy some more colors.

30 day challenge - day 6

So I'm going to do a challenge for the next 30 days. I thought it would be a nice way to write something everyday and let you know more about me. The challenge for today is: Your day.
First, I just want to tell you that my days don't look like this normally, I was really lazy today...
I woke up at about 11 am, and then I ate breakfast and took a shower. I watched some TV, and then my grandparents visited us. It is my nieces birthday today, so we had some cake ^^

I listened to some music (some EXO and SHINee <3), and before I knew it, it was already evening... We ordered some Thai food (yummy), and I wrote this post. It was a pretty boring day today.

Tonight, I'm going to post a review of a Teeez lipstick, but first I'm going to watch Notting Hill.

Have a nice evening <3

30 day challenge: day 5

So I'm going to do a challenge for the next 30 days. I thought it would be a nice way to write something everyday and let you know more about me. The challenge for today is: Your definition of love.
This is a difficult one! And I don't really know where to start. I think that there are different types of love. The love you have for your boyfriend/girlfriend, family, pets and hobbies are not the same thing. I'm going to talk about romantic love.

Do I believe in love at first sight? I do (maybe I'm too romantic and naive, but I do). I don't think this happens a lot though.

Do I believe in true love? Again, I do. I think there is at least one true love for everyone, and maybe even more than one. I mean, if there is only one true love, how big is the chance that you will meet him/her, when we live with 7 billion people on earth? If there would be only one, who says that he/she lives in the same country as you? Even though there (maybe) are multiple true loves, I still don't think everyone meets him/her (but I hope I do one day n_n).

And now for the difficult part... What is love? I don't think anyone can live without love. Well, you could, but I think you would be very lonely. Love is when you love someone so much, you would do anything for them. And love is when you still decide to stay with someone, even though you know he/she isn't perfect, and when you accept those imperfections. Love is when you're completely comfortable with that person, and feel safe. I don't think you can control who you fall in love with, you can try to, but I think you will just end up feeling miserable.

"You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel."

What is your definition of love? Do you believe in true love? I'm curious ^^

30 day challenge - day 4

So I'm going to do a challenge for the next 30 days. I thought it would be a nice way to write something everyday and let you know more about me. The challenge for today is: What you ate today.
Since it is Queen's Day, I didn't really eat healthy today... In the morning, I didn't have much time, so I ate a sandwich at the train station. Once we arrived in Amsterdam, I ate another sandwich, a fruit cocktail and (a lot of) cotton candy. I also ate 20 (!) tumtums (I don't know what they are called in English, it's candy made of gelatin), because I wanted to see how much can fit in my mouth. The answer is 20 ^^

And of course, when I got home, I had to eat a tompouce, which is a Dutch pastry (I always eat that with Queen's Day).
In the evening, I ate some Mie Goreng (Indonesian fried noodles), but my mother didn't make enough, so I also ate some bread with cheese.

I normally only drink water and green tea, but I also like to drink coffee from time to time (especially caramel macchiato from Starbucks n_n), or sometimes Red Bull, which I drank today.

Have a nice evening <3

Queensday look

Today it's the 30th of April, and that means Queensday!

Every year, on the 30th of April, we celebrate Queensday in the Netherlands. There is always lots to do, a lot of flea markets and festivals (if you want to read more about it, check out this site). I normally don't really celebrate Queensday, it just wasn't really my thing, but this year, I decided to go to Amsterdam with my best friend!

Queensday is always a good excuse to go really over the top with your looks. The crazier the better! And this is what I wore today:

An orange T-shirt - I had to have it, because it has Hello Kitty on it n_n
Crazy sunglasses, and just some skinny jeans and sneakers
I went a bit crazy with my make-up... I made my hair orange with this, and put some orange glitters in it as well
I painted the Dutch flag on my nails

 I put on orange lipstick
I drew a Dutch flag on my cheeks

And I made the Dutch flag on my eyes using eyeshadow (but I don't have any pictures of that, they are too crappy > <)

Bye <3

30 day challenge - day 3

So I'm going to do a challenge for the next 30 days. I thought it would be a nice way to write something everyday and let you know more about me. The challenge for today is: Your parents.
My parents met when my father was backpacking through Asia. My mother is from Indonesia, and she was working as a waitress in a restaurant when they met. I'm not going to be very detailed (my parents don't know I have a blog yet, and I don't think they really appreciate it when all their personal stuff is on the internet), but they married and my mom moved with my dad to the Netherlands.

What else can I tell you? My dad is really funny (and a bit dorky sometimes ^^), and he's pretty open-minded. My mother is really caring, and hardworking. And she cooks the best Indonesian food :)

Of course I don't always get along with them, but I guess that's normal. They're pretty awesome, and I'm glad that they're not super strict (all the time).
Ahh, cute n_n

Do you get along with your parents well?

Have a nice day <3

The Intouchables

Tonight I watched 'The Intouchables'. Not very long ago, I watched 'The Hunger Games', and I really liked it, but I think I prefer this one. I really loved the story, and it was so funny.

After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caretaker (source: imdb.com)

If you haven't seen it yet, you should definitely do it!

Have a nice evening (or probably night, I have to go to sleep now!) <3

30 day challenge - day 2

So I'm going to do a challenge for the next 30 days. I thought it would be a nice way to write something everyday and let you know more about me. The challenge for today is: Your first love.

Where to start... I'm not going to say what his name is. But I'll start at the beginning. (By the way, this was my first crush, I didn't really love him, and I don't think I have ever loved someone yet)

It was in second grade of high school and I was 13 years old. There was this boy in my class who I really liked, and when we went on a school trip, I decided to be bold so I started flirting with him. I didn't really think it would have any effect, but a few weeks after the trip, his friend told me that he liked me too. I had really high hopes for the next 2 weeks or so, because with some classes we sat next to each other, and his locker was next to mine. So I saw him a couple of times a day. But I was really shy, and he was too, so it always felt really awkward. In the end, nothing happened between us, because we both didn't have the guts > < I still liked him for like 2 years, and then my feelings just faded away. I still kind of regret doing nothing, I mean, I liked him for so long.

Who was your first love?

Have a nice day <3

30 day challenge - day 1

So I'm going to do a challenge for the next 30 days. I thought it would be a nice way to write something everyday and let you know more about me. The challenge for today is: introduce yourself.

I've already introduced myself here, and you can also read a little bit on the 'about me page'. I thought it would be fun to do the 'alphabet challenge', to let you know some more things about me, so here it is:
Age: I'm 17, but it's my birthday in 2 weeks! People always think I'm older, don't know if that's a compliment, or I should worry...
Best friend: I've never really had a best friend, until I started college. Her name is Nadia, and... I don't know. She just understands me, and we always have so much fun when we're together. We are similar in a lot of ways, it's just scary sometimes.
Chore you hate: I hate doing the dishes. Ugh. I don't really like doing chores in general, but doing dishes is just so annoying.
Dreamhouse: My dreamhouse is an apartment in a big city like Tokyo or Seoul (of course ^^), with my own walk-in-closet :)
Essential start of your day: I always have to brush my teeth before I do anything in the morning. I don't know why, but I just cannot do anything if I haven't brushed my teeth.
Favorite color: Pink! Why do you think I dyed my hair pink? :) When I was younger, my favorite color was black and I HATED pink, but that slowly changed when I was around 15. At that time, I painted my room, but I couldn't choose between black and pink, so now my room is half black, half pink :|
Height: I'm 1.64 meters or 64.6 inches.
Instruments you play: I have had guitar lessons for about a year, so I can play it a little. I'm thinking of taking lessons again, but I also want to learn how to drum :|
Job title (most recent): I used to work as a cashier in a supermarket, but I quit because I was so busy with school. I'm still looking for a job now, but it's not very easy. Where I live (in the middle of nowhere), there are not many places that want people with pink hair :')
Kids: Nope (I'm 17...) I want to have kids one day though.
Life is incomplete without: Well, other than the obvious things like family, friends, love etc., ehm... For me, music is pretty important.
Music that you always listen to: I used to always listen to hardrock and poprock, and I still do sometimes. But I'm not always in the mood to listen to that kind of music. I'm always in the mood for some K-pop though!
Nickname: I've had a lot of (stupid) nicknames when I was younger, like Syllie Willie, Syl Bil, Sylviano... Thank god no one calls me like that anymore :') People always call me Syl nowadays.
Overnights hospital stays: Nope, luckily not. I have been in hospitals when I was younger, but I never had to stay.
Phobias or fears: I don't really like spiders... Or dinosaurs. And the dark.
I really don't like dinosaurs, unless they look like this ^^

Quote from a movie: "Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right? ... You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period." - The Pursuit Of Happiness.
Reason to smile: Sunlight! It always makes me smile when the sun shines :)
Siblings: Yes, I have one younger sister, Miranda.
Time you wake up: Depends. When I have to go to college, 6 o'clock in the morning :| Now I don't go to college anymore, sometimes 10 o'clock, sometimes 11, sometimes 12...
Underwear: Uhh, don't really know what I should answer here. Like, if I wear underwear? What my favorite underwear is? I do wear underwear (haha), and my favorite... I don't know. Something that's pretty and comfortable at the same time? I always buy my underwear at H&M, one day I want to buy a more expensive set, just to try it out.
Very important date this year: I don't really have an important date this year, so... 8 May. Because it's my birthday, and I'm finally allowed to drink and get my driver's license, and it means that I'm officially a grown-up (don't know if I want to be though...). It also means I have to pay for my own insurance and stuff like that :|
Worst habit: I'm super lazy. Super super lazy.
X-rays you've had done: Uhh, when I was younger I had one, but I don't know what it was for.
Yummy food you make: I make the best enchiladas!
Zoo animal: Pandas <3

Sorry that it turned out so long, hope you enjoyed it.

Bye <3

Random

Hello :)

So yesterday, I went to a little town called Willemstad, which is a fortified town. It was a bit boring, but it was nice to be outside again. And the weather was terrible, it was rainy and really cold. But it was a cute little town, with a (really Dutch, haha) windmill:

And after that, we went to a little town called Oudenbosch, to see the Basilica of H.H. Agatha and Barbara, which is a smaller copy of the St. Peter's Basilica. Again, a bit boring, but we went up the stairs - 140 steps! On these stairs:

And I was TIRED when we got there. So I just sat down, and I made a picture of my shoes (yes - I was bored haha):

My shoes are from the Dragon Tattoo Collection by H&M

Today I have been painting my room, so it really smells right now. I have to sleep in our living room on the floor, but that's okay. I think I made it pretty cosy ^^ (and no, I'm not too old for a Hello Kitty blanket and a plush Hello Kitty ^^)

Bye <3

Shoplog

Hello :)

So this week I went shoppping in Rotterdam, and I wanted to show you what I bought. So here is my first shoplog!

Normally I don't really buy clothes at New Look (mostly at Monki, River Island, Forever21 and Urban Outfitters), but I went there and saw some nice things. I always love high heels from New Look, but this time I couldn't find a nice pair, but I did find these clothes:

Don't know whether I love or hate this cardigan... But I love the colors and it's a bit of a challenge to make a nice outfit with it, so that's why I bought it.

I love this see-through blouse, but I still need something to wear underneath it...

I wore this to my family reunion!

I can't wait to wear this in summer! It has holes at the shoulders, and a really pretty pattern (it is striped, but not very boldly)

All the clothes are from New Look.

I bought these sunglasses at H&M. I love sunglasses, can't have enough of them!

Bought this hair accessory at New Look. I think I'm going to wear this with a maxidress and some heels.

And... another pair of sunglasses from H&M ^^ I had to buy these because...

They open up! How awesome is that? :D

Necklace from H&M. I don't really wear necklaces, except for really chunky ones, like this one ^^

Another necklace from H&M. I have been wanting to buy a collar necklace for some time now, finally did it!

Lastly, a necklace from H&M and a hairpiece from a drugstore for a little DIY project I'm going to do soon

I'm going to go watch Pirates of the Caribbean now, hope you have a nice day <3

Busy week!

Hello :)

This week has been a pretty busy week, so I haven't been able to post anything. On Monday and Tuesday, I had to help a friend with moving, and painting her room and stuff. It was a lot of fun, but my nails are completely ruined. This is how they looked before:

I don't have any pictures of how they look now, but they're all broken and almost all my nailpolish (color L20 Let's Dance by Sephora) is gone :')

On Wednesday I didn't really have much to do, but I just didn't feel like writing anything... Sorry guise :(

I went shopping in Rotterdam on Thursday (of which I will be putting a shoplog online tomorrow!), and in the evening I went back to my high school, for a play in which one of my friends acted. It felt really weird to be back again, I never really liked high school, so I didn't really want to go back...

And on Friday one of my best friends celebrated her birthday, so we went bowling and had dinner in Leiden, which was really fun. It was good to see everyone again! (I don't really see most of my friends anymore, since they are all busy with studying, and I don't really go to Leiden anymore...)

Yesterday I had a kind of family reunion, because my dads uncle turned 65, and the whole family gathered. Normally I don't really like going to these kind of things, because most of the times the average age of the people is around 80 (just kidding), with some little kids, so I don't really fit in, but it was really nice! We barbecued and I saw a lot of family members I hadn't seen in a couple of years.

And today... I didn't really do anything. I stayed up pretty late last night (Boys Before Flowers is so addictive!), so I woke up late this morning.

I'm going to go to sleep now, if I want to have a productive day tomorrow :')

Bye <3
